California

We were able to go to California with Jason's sister and her family this summer. We had a blast. After a 25 mile bike ride for diabetes we took a plane ride to Long Beach. It was really nice to fly instead to spending all day on the road. We rented a car and went to Oceanside the night we got there. Our hotel was pretty much on the beach. The next day we went to Catalina Island. It was an hour boat ride over there, which was fun. We saw dolphin riding the boat's waves right out of the window. If you have never been to Catalina Island you really need to go! We had so much fun there. We rented golf carts to go around the island, and even did a little geo-caching. Other days we went to Universal Studios, Sea World, and the beach. We had fun at the beach. It was fun watching our nephew and nieces play at the beach. They made a sand castle and buried Jason, Breanna, and Bryndie in the sand. It had been a long time since both Jason and I had been to the ocean. We went wave jumping which is my favorite thing to do at the beach. We stayed in a cabin up in the Palomar Mountains. This cabin was built in about 1929 (seriously). It was an interesting place to say the least, but it was fun. It was sad when we had to come home, but after a week of being gone we were missing our four-legged kids and were ready to come home.
